Economic Opportunities for Developing Countries |
Toronto, Canada, April 30, 2009. The Global Renewable Fuels Alliance welcomed the Argentine Renewable Energies Chamber (known locally as “Cámara Argentina de Energías Renovables” or by its initials CADER) into the Global Alliance today. CADER represents the entire value chain in biofuels production in Argentina, including biofuels producers.
The Chamber, which has established itself as a regional leader in renewable energies, also called for other organizations within Latin America to join the Alliance. “We are honored to become members of this rapidly growing alliance,” stated Carlos St. James, President of CADER. “Renewable fuels represent one of the paths for emerging economies to make the most of their clear advantages in this industry. Brazil has already established itself as a world leader in ethanol production and Argentina in biodiesel; our brethren in countries such as Colombia, Paraguay, and Mexico are also making great strides in developing this industry and the Alliance is clearly the best option to find common ground, establish standards and practices, facilitate investment, and defend our interests in global markets.”
Bliss Baker, Executive Director of the GRFA, was also pleased to be making inroads into Latin America through CADER. “Argentina is among the five largest biodiesel producers in the world due to its abundance of soy oil. And as feedstocks in this industry continue to evolve, Latin America is certain to play a key role as producer of both raw material as well as fuels for the global industry, and we are very glad to have a regional leader such as CADER on our board.”
